The name 'waratah' comes from the Eora Aboriginal people, the original inhabitants of the Sydney area The Showy Waratah from Benjamin Maund's 'The Botanist' (1836 1842). The illustrations for Maund's publication were prepared by several women artists, including his two daughters. This fine waratah engraving was originally drawn
