Valencia Is Northern Cree and belongs to the Saddle Lake First Nations near St. Paul, Alberta. She studied the traditional Coast Salish style as well as Northwest Coast designs from Gitxsan artists Trevor Angus and Jonathan Erickson at the Native Educational College in Vancouver, BC.
