Ajuga reptans 'Black Scallop' Attracts Song Birds University of Kentucky Cooperative ExtensionThis low growing ground cover has attractive small, glossy, near black leaves that create a thick dark blanket over exposed areas in the garden. Starting in mid spring 4 6 deep blue florets emerge and create a very appealing effect when planted in mass or used to fill gaps in a garden bed. We like the cultivar Black Scallop because it stays more dense and compact than most ajuga. While this means it spreads more slowly it also covers more densely
