Large Spider web Bowl faux bois pattern followed by a sgraffito spiderwebThis bowl has been thrown on the wheel in brown stoneware. After it has been trimmed, I add porcelain slip with a paint brush, followed by a sgraffito spiderweb pattern, which I is incised into the still slightly soft clay. It is bisqued and then a blue under glaze is rubbed into the shallow carved pattern. I wipe it back and add a clear glaze to the bowl before it is fired for the second time.
