The PH ALI was the first DC 3 of the KLM and was given the name Ibis. It started its first service in 1936 between Amsterdam and LeBourget (Paris). Later it was used between Amsterdam and Batavia (nowadays Indonesia). This specific aircraft was shot down over the Gulf of Biscay as the Germans thought Winston Churchill was on board.
